Old Testament Meaning

Israelites were to eat only unleavened bread every year during Passover as a commemoration of the Exodus from Egyptian bondage.

New Testament Meaning

Luke 22:19 And he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”

Old Testament Meaning

Moses instructed Israel to kill a lamb and to take the blood to cover the doorway of each home. This protected and saved Israel from death.


New Testament Meaning

Jesus is the lamb. He died on the cross and his blood saves us from the second death.

Feast of Harvest or the Feast of Weeks.

Pentecost was a pilgrimage festival. All the adult Jewish men would go to Jerusalem and personally be in attendance during this celebration


New Testament Meaning

The streets of Jerusalem were filled with thousands of pilgrims who had come from every point of the compass to celebrate the goodness of God and the bringing in of the wheat harvest Pentecost occurred 50 days after Jesus rose from the dead. Jesus had already gone back to Heaven so the disciples and new believers of Jesus were waiting to receive the Holy Spirit because that’s what Jesus told them would happen. When the 50th day came the Apostles were given the gift of languages from the Holy Spirit to witness to all the Jewish people from many different languages.

Priest blowing of the trumpets was an announcement to Israel of impending judgment

In ancient Israel, the shofar was blown for various reasons, including a call to war.

Seven priests carrying the seven trumpets went forward and blew the trumpets; then the ark of the covenant of the LORD followed them.

Ezekiel 33;6 But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman’s hand.


New Testament Meaning

Two Witnesses announcing the trumpet plagues on the earth during the great tribulation

Old Testament Meaning

The most solemn holy day of all the Israelite feasts and festivals.

Following the ‘Days of Awe,’ there will be a day of deliverance for some.

Only on this day did the High Priest enter into the Holy of Holies in the Temple to offer incense and sprinkle blood on the Ark of the Covenant. Before concluding the sacrifices by burning both the bull and the goat, the High Priest placed blood from the Lord’s goat onto the second goat. He then cast the second goat into the wilderness, thus symbolically removing Israel’s sin.

The sins of the community were transferred to the goat and was sent out to the wilderness never to return

Old Testament Meaning

Feast of Booths.

For seven days all Israel moved out of their homes and lived in temporary shelters called “Sukkah” as a reminder of their wanderings in the desert for forty years.

Israel kept the Feast of Booths for seven days

 God will appoint judges and officers in all your towns that the LORD your God is giving you, according to your tribes, and they shall judge the people with righteous judgment. You shall not pervert justice. You shall not show partiality, and you shall not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and subverts the cause of the righteous. Justice, and only justice, you shall follow, that you may live and inherit the land that the LORD your God is giving you.

Tabernacles, Booths

New Testament Meaning

After the 1000 years are over the Saints come back to earth to assist/rule over the people of the second resurrection.

All the people who did not make the first resurrection will be raised from the dead after the thousand years are over.

This includes the people before Noah’s flood, people who have never heard of Jesus and all of Israel.

They will live in booths and will be instructed on how to live

They will go to the holy mountain year after year to attend the feast of booths and they will keep all Sabbaths.

Satan will be set free to tempt all these people

Satan’s life was prolonged just for this reason

The number of the wicked who will follow Satan will be as the sands of the sea

They will follow Satan to their second death.

The wicked will join Satan and try to attack the saints camped outside the holy city

Satan’s fallen angels will join them

When Booths is over time for judgment

Old Testament Meaning

You shall thus consecrate the fiftieth year and proclaim a release through the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a jubilee for you


New Testament Meaning

Israel restored to its land

All of Israel will be saved
