Peace and Safety

1 Thessalonians 5:2-3 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

Anytime, ‘The Day of the Lord’ is mentioned in a verse we know right away the prophets are talking about the day Jesus returns to earth.

For the wicked, this is a day of death and destruction. So why does the verse say the wicked people believe they are safe and will have peaceful lives now?

During the great tribulation, Gods two witnesses will torment the wicked with all kinds of plagues and as often as they liked. The wicked people will try everything they can to kill the two men, however, God will protect them until their testimony is finished.

The Bible tells us Gods two witnesses will preach for 3 1/2 years wearing sackcloth and at the end of their testimonies, God will allow the Beast to kill the two men,  the beast will not allow anyone to bury their bodies leaving them in the streets of Jerusalem.

The wicked people will rejoice sending each other gifts to celebrate their victory believing they now live in peace and safety.

But after 3 1/2 days, a loud voice from heaven shouts for the two men to stand to their feet and go up toward heaven, this event will be witnessed worldwide.

  • The dead in Christ will rise
  • The people who took the mark of the beast now realize the real God is coming
  • They will hide in caves
  • The wicked will be killed by God’s wrath
  • Bowls and Vial judgments

Revelation 11:6-12 These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.  And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.  And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.  And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves. And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth. And after three days and an half the Spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them. And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them.
