The Olive Press

GAT SHMANIM” is two Hebrew words  meaning “olive press”

Gethsemane is the olive garden where they pressed olives for oil and the same place where Jesus went to pray before he was taken away to be crucified.

Here are some amazing insights about the Olive press and God salvation plan

As Jesus enters into the garden he is crushed by the weight of the sins of the world

Isaiah 53:5 He was crushed for our iniquities

Before the oil is extracted from the olives they are first crushed by a heavyweight preparing them for the pressing

First Pressing: Olives are gathered in a rough sack and stacked on top of each other and the pressure of the sacks sitting on top of each other causes the oil to seep out and what comes out is the purest of the oil and this oil will be offered to the temple as the first fruit.

Jesus Prayed three different times and each time the pressing increased

First prayer
O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.

The three times Jesus prayed represents the three resurrections of the dead. From the purest oil to the good oil, to the poorest oil.

Jesus represents the purest oil, that came out of the olive and he was the first fruit to rise from the grave and to ascend to be presented to God

Daniel 7:13

In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence.

Second Pressing:  Then the olives are put into a seesaw pressing mechanisms and the olives are pressed with more weight but not too much because this oil is still considered good enough so the people can use it to cook with and make medicines.

He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.

The second group of the dead to rise from the grave are the Christians.  Jesus said to Martha, “Your brother will rise again.” And Martha replied, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection on the last day.” The prophets called this day, The Day of the Lord also known as Yom Kippur.  When Jesus returns he will raise the saints from the grave and they will ascend to God’s throne. Through their pressing of life’s tribulation and keeping the faith in Jesus they have produced enough good oil.

Third Pressing: This press will squeeze the last drop of oil out of the olives with the heaviest weights they have. This oil is considered a poor quality but can still be used as soap and oil for lamps

He prayed the third time, saying the same words. “O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done”

Luke 22:44  And in His anguish, He prayed more earnestly, and His sweat became like drops of blood falling to the ground.

The last group Jesus raises from the dead are the people who will go through the heaviest weights and pressure. These people are the ones who died in their sins and come to life discovering they will soon face God’s judgment. However, God has one last plan of salvation. (Ezekiel Chapters 37-48) Ezekiel witnessed these souls coming back to life.  Before their final judgment, they will fulfill the Feast of Tabernacles where the blinders are removed and many repent and know Jesus is Lord.
